V Magazine “Size Issue”Posted On: January 5, 2010 Comments Off
V Magazine, the mag that claims it’s “fashion with a capital F” is fighting the good fight against rail thin models in it’s first ever “Size Issue”. Set to hit the stands January 14, the “Size Issue” is about embracing all female bodies…. “Big, little, pint-size, plus-size-every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it.” Sounds nice, but let’s be real. This issue is about media coverage and stirring up a little controversy. They even have some of the models in Karl Lagerfeld. You know the guy that said, “No one wants to see curvy women. You’ve got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying that thin models are ugly.” Since I’m betting this is a one time thing for V Magazine, it all just goes to prove that, just like a magazine that limits its size every other issue, fashion doesn’t really care about the whole “every body is beautiful” thing. In February they will be right back to the 95 lb 5’11″ Romanian supermodels. The five plus size models were shot by photographer Solve Sundsbo in very typical high fashion poses shown below.
