Word on the street is that Tom Cruise is going to jump on the remake bandwagon and revise his role as Maverick in a Top Gun sequel. Homeboy needs to do something, he is losing major industry cred, fast. His last big hit was in 2005 with War of the Worlds. His last two films, Mission: Impossible III and Lions for Lambs both failed to make any big movie waves.

I sure miss the pre-Scientology/Jerry McGuire/The Firm/Interview with a Vampire Tom Cruise. He was a force to be reckoned with back in the day. Now he’s just that crazy man that paid Katie Holmes to marry him.

Cruise is in talks with studio bosses to reprise his role as Lt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in a long-awaited follow-up. An insider tells The Sun: ‘The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor – and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.’
