We all knew it would be bad, but Britney Spears VMA performance last night was just plain lazy. Over our lattes this morning we’ve been kicking around the idea that she did it on purpose, we just couldn’t figure out why. We were just about see if we could figure it out over a second cup and muffin when we found this story.

 

Apparently Britney threatened to ditch her performance just minutes before she took the stage because she overheard Sara Silverman rehearsing her monologue in which she calls Britney’s two boys ‘mistakes’. Britney had previously made it clear to MTV that Sara was not allowed to take jabs at her kids and MTV agreed, but obviously no one holds down that saucy Jew. Sam Lufti was overheard tearing Sara a new one after her jokes about Britney and family and made this public statement.

“Sara Silverman is a seriously unprofessional person to make of infants to get a laugh. Making fun of kids is not condonable.”

We are torn on this one, because Sara’s jokes were so funny we nearly choked on our ice cream, but we do understand Britney trying to protect her children. But shouldn’t she be protecting them on a daily basis, like not blowing smoke in their faces and keeping them out too late, instead of just this one time?
