Simon Cowell is set to remake Saturday Night Fever…..and he wants High School Musical cutie Zac Efron for the lead role.

There’s a remake frenzy going on in Hollywood right now and while some of them are sure to be bomb (think: Land of the Lost) this one might actually work. Although Simon may have to look elsewhere for his new Tony Manero. Zac already turned down the lead role in the Footloose remake because he didn’t want to get pigeon holed into a singing/dancing career.

Award-winning hip-hop producer Timbaland is being courted to rework Saturday Night Fever’s original soundtrack– which featured a host of classic disco classics by The Bee Gees, including “Stayin’ Alive,” “More Than A Woman,” and “Night Fever.”
