“Divine Intervention” Saved Travis BarkerPosted on: September 25, 2008
One of the first responders on the scene when the plane carrying Travis Barker and DJ AM says it was “divine intervention” that the two of them survived Lt. Jason Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department says it was obvious that Travis was in a lot of pain, but he was also concerned about the other on board the plane. “He just kept saying, ‘That’s my friends in the plane, that’s my friends in the plane,’” Shumpert said. Of course by now you know that the pilot and co-pilot died of smoke inhalation and burns and Chris Barker and Charles Still died from impact injuries.

TMZ posted this video that allegedly captures Travis Barker pleading with police officers for an ambulance for himself and his friends. While this may be hard for some of you to listen to, keep in mind in the end we are going to find out that Trav and DJ AM were brave beyond our comprehension during this horrible ordeal. There are reports out there from the first emergency services personnel that state that if Travis and DJ AM had not leaped out of the plane and started extinguishing themselves, they would have died as well. Doctors in Georgia say that Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) should recover fully, but it make take up to a year. Travis was burned on his torso and lower body, while DJ AM, was burned on his arms and a portion of his head. Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors’ Hospital in Augusta said at a press conference that former Blink 182 drummer Barker, 32, and DJ Am (real name: Adam Goldstein), 35, are being treated for second- and third-degree burns. Mullins says recovery from such burns can take as long as a year but says that the men suffered no other injuries, adding: “Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn’t suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected.” All families involved in the horrific plane have requested privacy for time to grieve and come to terms with this tragedy. This means if you live in Augusta, Georgia stay the hell away from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center. If you show up there looking for an autograph Shanna Moakler just might kick your ass. Share This:
Update: DJ AM Airlifted To Burn Unit After Plane CrashPosted on: September 20, 2008
Bits and pieces of information is streaming in about what happened in the first few seconds after the jet that was flying DJ AM, Travis Barker and four more people crashed late last night. A local resident was driving down the highway next to the airport when he saw a huge “fireball” go across the road. William Owens said it took a few seconds for him to process that it was actually an airplane. According to Owens, two men (presumably Travis and DJ AM) were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He said he asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they told him there had been four more with them. “We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do,” Owens said. DJ AM was so badly burned he had to airlifted out, but Travis was stable enough to be driven in an ambulance. Story developing… Share This:
Travis Barker & DJ AM Criticially Injured In Plane CrashPosted on: September 20, 2008
Travis Barker and DJ AM are in critical condition in the burn unit of a hospital in Georgia after the plane they were flying in Friday crashed in South Carolina. They are the only two people on board that survived the crash. Officials said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane hurtled off the end of a runway and crashed through antennas and a fence. It came to rest on an embankment across a five-lane highway and was engulfed in flames, said Debbie Hersman, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board. Two other passengers – Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles – died, as did pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, according to the county coroner. The plane was headed for Van Nuys, California after Travis and DJ AM performed a free concert together under the name TRVSDJ-AM in Columbia, Georgia Friday night.
