Turns out Ashton Kutcher was just joking about staying in shape so he could protect Demi and the girls when the end comes. Ashton was on Jimmy Fallon to promote No Strings Attached Friday and explained how the Men’s Fitness reporter than interviewed him didn’t get his joke.

Here’s what Men’s Fitness printed: “And people are going to go, ‘That land’s not yours, prove that it’s yours,’ and the only thing you have to prove it’s yours is on an electric file. Then it’s like, ‘What’s the value of currency, and whose food is whose?’ People’s alarm systems at their homes will no longer work. Neither will our heating, our garbage disposals, hot-water heaters that run on gas but depend on electricity – what happens when all our modern conveniences fail? I’m going to be ready to take myself and my family to a safe place where they don’t have to worry.”

And here is Ashton’s explanation: “Here’s the thing: you do these interviews for like a Men’s Fitness or something, and they’re always asking you like, why do you work out, what’s your motivation to stay in shape?” Kutcher said. “And you really don’t want to say I want to look good, I want to be healthy, it doesn’t really sound fun. So I kind of got going on this roll of the apocalypse and I thought she was getting the joke, and I read the article and she really didn’t get the joke.”

At the risk of repeating myself...Jared Leto just does not age.

Which just don’t happen when you are a working/touring rock star. That lifestyle always takes it toll. Unless you are totally skipping the after-parties, turning in early and hitting the hotel gym first thing in the morning. Which is what Jared must be doing. Believe me…nearly 40 year old men don’t look this without seriously trying.
