Julia Roberts Paid $500,000 A Minute For “Valentine’s Day” RolePosted on: February 12, 2010 | Comments Off
America’s sweetheart Julia Roberts is only in the movie Valentine’s Day for about six minutes, but she still managed to get a $3 million pay day. New Line Cinema paid Roberts $3 million up front against 3 percent of the gross for what is little more than an extended cameo. That comes out to an astonishing $8,333 per second of screen time, or roughly $500,000 a minute. Verbally, it’s a minimum of $11,952 per spoken word. I doubt anyone else in the giant ensemble cast was paid so much. I love JR as much as the next Southern girl..but is she really the big draw for this flick? Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Bradly Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Taylor2, Jamie Foxx…yeah ..I guess she is.
Heath Ledger’s Last Co-Stars Donate Salary To His DaughterPosted on: August 19, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Not everyone in Hollywood is a selfish, self-centered A-hole. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell were all so concerned about the state of Heath Ledger’s final will that they donated their entire salaries from The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus to little Matilda. All four actors played versions of the character Tim in the fantasy epic directed by Terry Gilliam.
Director Terry Gilliam, 67, said: “They didn’t take money — it goes to Heath’s daughter. That’s extraordinary! And wonderful . . . and when you’re part of that, you think, ‘Ah, this is maybe why I went into the movies in the beginning. I thought it would be full of wonderful people. And we’ve got a movie full of wonderful people who did extraordinary things to help.” That’s a nice little savings account for little Mattie. And what a great feel-good story to read before you scroll down to the next story. Be warned. It involves …well read for yourself. It’s not pretty.
