Given my recently acquired crush on Jake Gyllenhaal, I’m not sure how I feel about this new celebrity hook-up. Although I suppose Jake could do worse. Rachel Bilson isn’t dirty and gross like Kirsten Dunst or way too prim and proper for him like Reese Witherspoon.

Also, I’m still not really over the Rachel and Hayden split so that may have something to do with why I don’t really dig this hook-up.

Gyllenhaal, who has dated Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst, and Bilson, who recently split from fiance Hayden Christensen, are an item. A source close to the couple tells the website, “They’re trying to keep a low profile but they’re definitely dating.”

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen announced about a month ago that they were ‘taking a break’ from each other and sadly today they announced the split is permanent.

Yes, the engagement is off,” Bilson’s rep explained, but didn’t offer up any further details on the breakup.

Now Bilson is “focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward,” adds the friend.

They were sort of an okay couple..although I much preferred the rumor of Hayden dating Sienna Miller while they were filming Factory Girl. Not sure why but after seeing the movie and watching Hayden play a very sexy and young Bob Dylan telling Andy Warhol he was a bloodsucker I totally got into the chemistry his character had with Sienna’s.

Another cute celebrity couple has bitten the dust. It looks like if they haven’t completely broken up already, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen will be splitting soon. Rachel and Hayden met on the set of the sci-fi flick Jumper and have been engaged since late 2008, but according to UsMagazine they are “on a break” which prolly means one of them was getting cold feet and/or may have fallen for a co-star on set of a new project.

UsMagazine.com chatted with Bilson at the Take No Prisoners event in LA last night. When asked about her wedding plans, Bilson said, “No, no plans.” She then pointed to her ringless finger and said, “No nothing.”

The website reports that a source close to the couple confirms they are “taking a break.” The pair is “taking a month off” and will then decide whether or not the relationship should continue. The source claims they separated about two weeks ago.

Bilson stars in the 2010 film ‘Waiting for Forever,’ and Christensen is attached to several upcoming films, including ‘Takers,’ ‘Vanishing on 7th Street’ and ‘The Cold.’

While Rachel Bilson was off in Canada with her hottie fiance Hayden Christensen some jerk-off broke in her house and stole all her jewelry, her designer clothes and GASP her vintage shoe collection. The Horror!

Seriously…Rachel had irreplaceable vintage pieces of jewelry given to her by grandmother that were taken as well as her substantial Chanel collection which in itself is enough to make most of us cry.

On a positive note, Rachel was out of town and no one was injured. Smart robbers…I bet that tiny little Rachel would have given them a giant ass-kicking if she had caught them stealing her Chanel.

A Page Six spy spotted Bilson on a Virgin America flight from LA to JFK Monday night with her mom and tells us the actress is engaged to longtime beau Hayden Christensen. “A man sitting in front of her on the plane saw a ring on her finger and asked if she was married,” said our snitch, who overheard Bilson reply, “I’m not married yet, just engaged. I know I look like I’m 15, but I’m actually 27.” Her rep didn’t return calls.
