Maybe, just maybe…John Mayer has realized that all his attempts to manipulate the media and be the quick-witted-funny-cool-guy have failed. After several years of stupid Twitters and countless TMZ-TMI…John says the garbage he spit out for the Playboy interview was the end for him.

The blues-rock singer teared up as he spoke to fans in Nashville about descending into a “wormhole of selfishness” with his “quest to be clever” in the media. He said he’s “done” acting foolish and just wants to “play my guitar.”

The mom we all love to hate has turned down a $400,000 offer from Hugh Hefner to pose for Playboy magazine. At least there is a limit to her greed; nudity and degradation.

Kate Gosselin’s eight kids already think she’s a great playmate – just not the kind Hugh Hefner has in mind! According to an insider, the reality mom turned down $400,000 to appear in Playboy. “Hugh sent her a letter, but Kate was totally mortified and threw it away! She didn’t think it was appropriate because of the children.” Still, Kate has no problem showing off her body, adds the insider. “She’s proud of the way she looks.”

I’m actually not surprised Kate turned Hef down..she would require a whole lot more cake to appear in his magazine. Doesn’t he know who she is?

I am surprised, however, that Playboy keeps scraping the bottom of the celebrity barrel lately.

Lindsay Lohan has already turned down a half a million dollar offer to pose nude for Playboy Magazine, but now Hef has upped the anty and we might all be seeing Lilo spread eagle on the pages of his skin mag very soon.

Australian tabloid The Day reported in its Aug. 25 issue — bosses upped the ante to $900K, Lindsay is reportedly considering it. “Playboy has been asking her for years, but it’s only now she’s excited about doing it.”

Of course she’s excited. Do you have any idea how many lip injections $900k will buy?

My only question is why hasn’t she done this sooner? I’m still pretty convinved she gonna end up in soft-core porn one day anyway. And you know she’s got bills to pay…just do it Lilo. Heidi Montag did and look where that got her.

Melanie Brown must be making some change from her various and odd jobs since appearing on Dancing with the Stars. She recently turned down a $1.85 million dollar offer to pose nude in Playboy magazine. Although Mel B is the current celebrity model for Ultimo lingerie, she says she’ll never get naked for Hef.

She tells Access Hollywood, “No, I’m not going to do it.” But least you think she’s a prude, she adds, “There is (an exhibitionist side to me) – in my bedroom, late at night for hours on end!”

Although I totally respect her decision to take a higher road, I think adding that last bit about going at it all night was waay too much info. Do we really need the visual image of Scary Spice is getting busy all night long with that strange looking hubby of hers?

Don’t get too excited yet, nothing is written in stone, but we may be seeing Brooke Hogan in the buff very soon. The New York Daily News is reporting that Brooke has been approached by Playboy magazine to pose nude…and she didn’t say no!

There is some talk about what daddy Hulk Hogan will say, but to be honest I think he lost his father-cred when he started dating a girl that looks just like his 20 year old daughter.

Brooke has posed for a men’s magazine before (FHM in 2006) but never fully nude. Given the fact that her 2006 album “Undiscovered” only sold an embarrassing 127,000 copies, you know home girl is down with making some cash of that Hulkster body of hers.
