Mike Huckabee Slams Unwed and Pregnant Natalie PortmanPosted on: March 4, 2011 | Comments Off
I think I understand the point that Mike Huckabee was trying to make when he sort of bashed Natalie Portman for having a baby out of wedlock on the Michael Medved show Monday. I think what he was trying to say is that young girls (and boys) should remember that not every new mother has the resources that Natalie Portman has to help raise a baby alone. He is right that more often than not in our country new moms find themselves single moms not by choice but because the baby daddy takes off. But that is an entirely different situation than a mature woman who has worked hard for years for her career and does have the resources one would need to be a single mom. I’ve never understood why politicians always think we are ‘glamorizing’ single motherhood when an actress gets pregnant without being married. I’ve never known any woman/girl who thought being knocked up was glamorous. Of course this crap always comes a male politician. Remember Dan Quayle and his ridonkulous Murphy Brown feud? You know Michael, one of the things that’s troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, ‘Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing just fine.’ But there aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie. And I think it gives a distorted image that yes, not everybody hires nannies, and caretakers, and nurses. Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that’s the story that we’re not seeing, and it’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out of children wedlock. You know, right now, 75 percent of black kids in this country are born out of wedlock. 61 percent of Hispanic kids — across the board, 41 percent of all live births in America are out of wedlock births. And the cost of that is simply staggering.
Natalie Portman Pregnant and EngagedPosted on: December 27, 2010 | Comments Off
Natalie Portman announced that she and choreographer Benjamin Millepied are engaged and expecting their first child this morning. The couple met during the production of Black Swan. Portman’s performance in the film has earned her nominations for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. I wonder if Nati will give up her 2 pack a day habit now. She is a notorious chain smoker.
Video: Trailer For “Your Highness” Starring James Franco & Natalie PortmanPosted on: December 22, 2010 | Comments Off
After both starring in some pretty heavy dramatic roles James Franco and Natalie Portman are trying their hands at comedy with that awkward guy from East Bound and Down, Danny McBride. Franco and Portman co-star, along with Zooey Deschanel and Eastbound & Down’s Danny McBride in ‘Your Highness,’ an upcoming medieval adventure comedy that McBride co-wrote. And it looks hilarious. The film features McBride as a lazy prince, who is forced to adventure with his brother (Franco) in order to save the brother’s love (Deschanel) from an evil warlock. Along the way, they meet a beautiful warrior (Portman) that helps them in their quest. Oh, and I think that Natalie gets naked in this one too peeps.
Movie Poster For “No Strings Attached” with Ashton Kutcher & Natalie PortmanPosted on: November 22, 2010 | Comments Off
The tag lien for this new chick-flick starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher is: A guy and girl try to keep their relationship strictly physical, but it’s not long before they learn that they want something more. Yeah, it sounds cheesy and chicky and I’m not sure if Natalie and Ashton are gonna have that kind of chemisty…but it’ll be interesting to see the usually serious Natalie in a silly comedy. She has a quirky side..remember her in Garden State? She just might pull it off. I think the major height difference is gonna be weird though. No Strings Attached is in post-production now and will be released in 2011.
