The Spice Girls: The Musical and The Reality Show

Posted on: October 22, 2009 | Comments Off

Wow. I was ready for another Spice Girls reunion but I was not ready for a reality show and a musical. It’s just too much. I might not be able to handle all that spice. The Spice Girls are launching their own TV talent show which would select young girls for a musical based on the group’s rise to fame.

“The girls would have to work intensely on a TV show for a short period of time. But they then launch a musical which could run for months or even years. It will take on a life of its own. The concept could even be replicated in other countries. The sky is the limit with this one,” an insider divulged to The Sun.

The show – rumoured to be called Spice Idol – will see the singers sit on an American Idol-style judging panel.

“This is an idea which appeals to all of the original members,” added the source. “It’’s a fantastic new way to broaden out the Spice franchise and cash in on their personalities, their story and their songs.”

Barack Obama Musical Headed To London Stage

Posted on: January 23, 2009 | Leave a Comment

Listen people, we know that the entire world is happy that we have a new President and he has given some hope for the future..but do we really need a musical about the man? I mean, our new Prez is a tall-cool-handsome-black man and now British playwrite Teddy Haye’s is going to dork him all up with a lame stage musical.

Obama on My Mind will chronicle the former Senator’s journey to the White House, and the efforts of his campaign managers to get him there. Playwright Teddy Hayes’ production features hard-hitting political commentary and pop, gospel, jazz and Motown-esque soul.

The lameness will open in London this March.

Is it just me, or does this seem slightly disrespectful?

Rob Marshall Puts Cast Of “Nine” Through Boot Camp

Posted on: August 6, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Stacy Ferguson (Fergie), Marion  Cotillard will all have to go through boot camp before they allowed to begin filming for the movie version of ‘Nine’.

Director Rob Marshall is putting them a Fame-style boot camp to make sure they can sing and dance adequately. Penelope Cruz says she is looking forward to it.

“We have a camp in London where you go from the dancing room to the singing room, to the acting room to the dialect coach. It’s all day like that and I can’t wait to get started.”

Sounds like a whole lotta work to me. I guess that’s why they get paid the big bucks. Since this is a musical, and I know most of you kids don’t know jack about musicals…here is a plot summary.

Famous film director Guido Contini struggles to find harmony in his professional and personal lives, as he engages in dramatic relationships with his wife, his mistress, his muse, his agent, and his mother.
