Britney Spears Single “If You Seek Amy” Too Racy For RadioPosted on: January 20, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Britney Spears thinks she is waay smarter than she really is. And so is who ever wrote her new single, “If You Seek Amy“. The original title and lyrics did what they were intended to do…stir up interest in Brit’s album Circus. But as it drew closer to time for “Amy” to hit the radio, station managers started to wonder if the title would earn them FCC fines. Need some help figuring out what is so bad about “If You Seek Amy”? If you say it just right it comes out F**K Me. F(If), U (You), C (see-), K (k-a)-ME(my) To put it into context, one of the lines in the song is: “All the boys and the girls are begging to If You Seek Amy.” So faced with the prospect of the single getting banned across America by the far right, she went back in the studio and re-recorded the song. In true Britney & co. fashion, they got lazy and just went in and dropped the “K” from the of “seek” and renamed the song “If You See Amy”.
The removal of that one letter might have kept parents and radio stations happy but the downside is that the track now makes no sense whatsoever.
