Sad news kids. Just as Patrick Swayze and A&E were starting to really promote their upcoming drama The Beast, pneumonia showed up. Tired and worn down from fighting cancer, Patrick was scheduled to appear at the Television Critics Association’s press junket at the Universal Hilton when the network had to announce he was ill.

“Patrick has asked that I tell you that this morning he checked himself into the hospital for observation for pneumonia,” A&E president and GM Robert DeBitetto said. “Chemotherapy can take its toll on the immune system, and illnesses are a part of that. Patrick wishes me to tell you that he’s very sorry he cannot attend, but plans to get back to promoting ‘The Beast’ soon.”

Janet Jackson was hospitalized in Montreal yesterday after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check for her Monday night concert. The hospital says that Ms. Jackson is being monitored and her people say that she hopes to reschedule the show soon.

No word on what’s wrong with JJ…Maybe her epic yo-yo dieting finally caught up with her.

Mary Murphy and Nigel Lithgow are working those kids to death on the summer hit television show ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ Two of the final four dancers were taken to the hospital and treated for dehydration after collapsing during rehearsal. The names of the dancers were withheld for some reason, but my guess is that it was Courtney Galiano and Joshua Allen. Just a hunch.

Leading up to the finale, the dancers have been putting in 10 to 12 hour rehearsals a day, because “they want it so bad,” says Mary Murphy, adding “so, they keep pushing themselves and pushing themselves and not letting anybody know that, ‘Hey, I’m running on empty,’ and then it catches up on them and then they collapse.”

I have visions of Mary, Nigel and Mia standing in the corner of the rehearsal room with whips and chains and offering them the occasional bottle of water and bite of a power bar. Check out the live finale this Thursday on FOX at 8:00pm.

Holy Bad Luck Batman! Is the entire cast of The Dark Knight cursed? TMZ just reported that Morgan Freeman was airlifted to a Tennessee hospital after being involved in a serious car accident last night in Memphis.

Cops tell us the “Dark Knight” star was in a one car accident around 11:30 PM last night north of the small town of Ruleville. He was airlifted from the accident scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. We’re told alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the wreck.

No word on his condtion but the state troopers said he was repsonsive and talking on the way to the hospital. The condition of the female passenger in the car with Freeman is unknown as well.

Cracked-out but brilliantly talented Amy Winehouse was rushed to the emergency room again today. It was a crazy scene outside her home as friends and family used a blanket to shield their little addict from the photographers.

Her spokesman Chris Goodman said in a statement: ‘Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to hospital.’

Most people have reactions to crack and booze when taken in copious amounts don’t they? Amy is being held in the hospital overnight for observation and will no doubt be back on her pipe with the next 24 hours.
