Hero’s cutie Hayden Panettiere has thrown her hat in the ring for the female lead in the remake of the 80′s classic Footloose opposite Gossip Girls star Chance Crawford.

Panettiere, my source says, recently sang for filmmakers (the new Footloose is being turned into a full-blown musical à la the Broadway version). “They were really impressed,” the insider gushes. “No one realized what a good singer she is.”

If she makes it through the singing auditions, she’ll move on to the dance portion of the try-out. And millions of men are crossing their fingers in the hopes of seeing her shake her ass on the big screen.

For you young ‘uns who don’t know about the greatest that was Footloose…let me catch you up.

Ren is a city boy who moves to small town where rock music and dance are prohibited. Ren heads up a revolt of sorts to overturn the oppressive laws. Panettiere would play Ariel Moore, who falls for Ren much to the chagrin of her boyfriend and her Bible-thumping father. It was 80′s awesomeness to the max.

A great story from Suffern, New York. Security staff at a nightclub in upstate NY kicked Hayden Panettiere out on her nineteen year-old but last month.

As soon as one of the bouncers recognized the teenage actress, they took her ID and told her to scram. Not being used to such heinous treatment, Hayden immediately caused a scene by calling the police and demanding that the bouncer return her ID card.

Apparently the town of Suffern does not honor the underage celebrity drinking rules. Besides you can’t tell someone that has partied with the Great Wonk-Eye that she can’t drink in your club.

Hero’s hottie Hayden Panettiere’s father has been charged with misdemeanor battery and could be facing one year in jail. Alan Panettiere was arrested in August on a felony domestic violence for allegedly hitting Hayden’s mom, Lesley.

The two had been seen arguing early that night at a Hollywood charity event and the argument escalated to the point that police had to be called later in the evening. Much later in the evening…the cops were summoned to the Panettiere’s West Hollywood home at 3:15am.

Big daddy has a court date next month and if the judge convicts him he could get the maximum of one year in jail. Both Alan and Lesley have been downplaying the entire thing saying it was “all a big understanding”.

Although a police report claims Alan struck Lesley three times, the couple insist “nothing actually happened. “[We] love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion,”

Sounds like a drunk fight to me. Geesh…folks can’t even have a simple old drunk fight these days with that pesky domestic battery law in effect now.
