I would have never expected Eminem to be so open about his battle with drug addiction. The normally severely private rapper seems to have found some sort of cathartic healing power in putting his struggle into his music and even talking about it in interviews.

“Showbiz Tonight’s” Brooke Anderson caught up with Em backstage at his concert kicking off the E3 video game convention.

Brooke met up with Eminem in a VIP lounge, and he talked about his new album, “Recovery” – which hits stores next Monday – and also really opened up about the trials he’s faced over the past several years

“Recovery feels better than ever,” the Detroit rapper said. “Feels like I’m me again.”

“It took me awhile to admit I actually did have a problem,” the musician said. “In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.”

When asked how close he was to death, the artist responded that he “was certainly a couple of hours away from death,” adding that he “overdosed and almost died.”

The world is a crazy place. Would you ever think that a old queen from England would end up mentoring a hardcore, white rapper from Detroit? Stranger things have happened. Like some retarded judge not letting Elton John adopt a child, but I digress.

Elton John says he has been helping American rapper Eminen fight drug problems for more than a year. John says Eminem is succeeding in his well-publicized battle against substance abuse.

John told BBC Radio Saturday that as a recovered drug abuser he is happy to help people if they want the assistance but drugs make people so cocky and arrogant that they often reject help.

I have a feeling that Em probably didn’t want this information made public, but you know how old queens love to gossip.

Eminem is taking his dark side that he usually reserves for his hardcore rap to the big screen. MTV has confirmed that Em will be starring and producing Shady Talez, a horror anthology cross between Creep Show and The Twilight Zone that will put a hip-hop spin to classic horror films.

Shady Talez will be Eminem’s first big-screen appearance since his role in the 2002 box office hit 8 Mile.

The film will be accompanied by a four-issue Shady Talez comic book series, due out in 2010.

Great. 3-D blood and guts, hateful hip hop and a comic book! Yeah us!

As we all thought, the MTV Bruno/Eminem stunt has been confirmed as a set-up. But what we didn’t know is that grouchy Marshall was not MTV’s first choice for the Bruno-balling, it was Paris Hilton. She politely  declined but MTV says that Eminem was being a good sport about it until the prank went too far.

At Sunday’s MTV Movie awards in LA, viewers were shocked when Sacha Baron Cohen landed nearly butt-naked on rapper Eminem’s face. A shocked Eminem then cursed and stormed out of the theater. But an MTV insider has told Life & Style that producer Mark Burnett cleared the prank with the rapper beforehand. However, Eminem wasn’t aware of exactly how naked Sacha would be when he agreed to do it! A second insider also confirms that Eminem was actually Burnett’s second choice. The first? Heiress Paris Hilton, who, luckily for her, declined to participate (probably because she was on a date with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt!). “Paris is quite happy she turned down the offer,” the insider tells Life & Style.
