I didn’t even see this on tv last night, but just reading about it nearly made me cry.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner! Ever! …Jennifer Grey broke down in tears when she first heard the song she would be performing to on Dancing with the Stars..because it reminded her of Patrick Swayze.

The Dirty Dancing actress made her debut on the reality TV show on Monday night (20Sep10), performing a Viennese waltz to Otis Redding’s These Arms of Mine, which appeared on the film’s soundtrack. But when Grey, who played Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman opposite Swayze in the 1987 movie, first heard the track in rehearsals she broke down because it made her miss her co-star.

In pre-recorded footage, Grey is seen crying and telling her professional dance partner, Derek Hough, “It took me back in a time capsule, and I was with Patrick. I just missed him. He was like you, young and gorgeous.”

But the star triumphed in the live show – picking up the highest scores from the judges on the night. After her dance, panellist Bruno Tonioli said, “Baby is back where she belongs. I know somebody up there is going to be very proud of you.”

You already know who is going to be on the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars….but guess who the producers tried to get and couldn’t?

Sylvester Stallone, Ann Coulter, Condoleeza Rice, Erin Brockovich, Richard Branson, Tim Allen and Suzanne Somers.

And guess who wanted on and was denied…again? Melanie Griffith. Sad, no? Why don’t they want her?

“We’ve approached a lot of people over the years,” executive producer Conrad Green told THR. “People say no for a variety of reasons. Some people like the show but think they suck at dancing. It’s a lot easier to say no than it is to say yes.”

Others who have turned down the show in the past: Reality star Kirstie Alley, “Community” star Joel McHale and “The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey.

Although lobbying for a spot on the roster has proved successful in the past — hello, Melissa Joan Hart — the casting source said those who push usually have little success. “Melanie Griffith tries to get on every season,” the source said.

Some are saying that Dancing with the Stars has hit an all time low with the prospects for next season. I have to admit, the D-listers they are after this season are pretty laughable..but we all love to watch a train wreck trying to mambo, no?

According to Extra, DWTS is courting Mel Gibson’s baby mama Oksana Grigorieva and Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino from Jersey Shore. Also in talks with the show is “Bachelorette” couple Ali and Roberto,  soccer star Landon Donovan, Ryan O’Neal and Troy Aikman.

I love the athletes on the show..it’s always fun to watch big tough guys try to be fluid on the dance floor…and Ryan O’Neal will probably dedicate a dance to Farrah Fawcett so that would be a big draw. Plus that Landon dude is really hot..but I really can’t stomach The Situation fist-pumping through the entire season.

It’s not a big shocker that Kate Gosselin sucked last night on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars.

I’m a serious Kate hater and a serious Dancing hater so I didn’t watch the show, but I did watch a few seconds of the clip to see just how awkward she was so I could laugh at her.

She won’t be on the show long, but I’m really hoping that karma steps in and makes her the first one voted off.

Pamela Anderson is the next washed up celebrity to join Dancing with the Stars. I would have never seen this one coming. Pam is really not ‘middle America friendly’ if you  know what I mean. But everyone loves a trashy trainwreck so she should be good for ratings.

In a move that’s sure to boost the male viewing audience, Pam and the show have agreed to all terms for a deal and the deal is done, a source told RadarOnline.com.

“Pam is thrilled and so is the show,” said the source.

Considering that only 20 people showed up to the last event she hosted this week, I’m surprised she landed this gig.
