Was anyone surprised to hear that Paris Hilton and Benji Madden split yesterday? Whoever had nine months in the office pool is buying lunch today.

Although no one is shocked that the couple didn’t last, I think most of us are surprised that it wasn’t Benji kicking wonk eye to the curb … but Paris getting busy with her ex. A close source to Paris as much as said that she dumped him because he was ‘too nice’., “She is saddened by the breakup but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life. He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break.”

For all her huffin’ and puffin’ about being in love, getting married and having babies like her BFF Nicole Richie…wonk eye just couldn’t handle being in adult relationship. So she went out and boinked her old Greek boyfriend.

People have been buzzing recently about Benji Madden stepping out on Paris Hilton with another girl. Benji is so upset by the rumors that he’s been hittin’ clubs with other girls that he decided to go public and set the record straight. He says the rumors are “hurtful, completely false, and absurd”.

“Paris “is my life, my heart and my soul, the most important thing in my life. No one exists but her. I am the most loyal guy in the world and would never even look at anyone else.”

Paris has also responded, saying, “Benji and I have an amazing relationship and I trust him with my life. I know he would never hurt me and he knows the same about me.”

Well, aren’t they just so sweet it makes your mouth pucker…ugh. I never thought life would present me with a situation where I could write the name Paris Hilton in the same post as a Shakespeare quote, but this one seems to fit nicely, “The lady doth protest too much“
