Remembering John LennonPosted On: December 8, 2009 Comments Off
“So this is Christmas..and what have you done? Another year older..a new one just begun…” It’s hard to believe that John Lennon has been gone for almost 30 years. 20 years ago on Dec. 8, 1980 the former Beatle was gunned down outside his New York City home by Mark David Chapman. Crazy ass Chapman shot Lennon to death as he was returning to his home inside Manhattan’s The Dakota. Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, had spent the evening at a recording studio known as the Record Plant, working on a song called “Walking on Thin Ice.” It always makes me so sad to think that a champion for peace and understanding who might have actually made a difference had he lived long enough was murdered so brutally and for nothing. The BBC has put together a great tribute to the man if you have time today go take a peek. “War is over..if you want it..war is over now.”
