Miley Cyrus just won a few cool points in my book. I am so into this song.
I’m guessing the reason I like it is because, as we all know Snoop “Dogg” Lion is about as cool as it gets, and because Ashtrays and Heartbreaks is expertly produced. But the fact that Miley got herself attached to something so much better than Party in the USA earns her some cred.
Sad dance: Miley tweeted a picture of herself saying, ‘Dancing to Ashtrays & Heartbreaks in my carrrrr! Play that s*** loud!’
The new song reflects on friends who have passed in a reggae – and drug reference infused – melody.
The collaboration, which will feature on Snoop’s new album Reincarnated, is the first of many expected from the former squeaky clean star as she prepares to release her new album.
The reggae track is kicked off by Snoop who raps: ‘Tonight there’s gonna be a whole lot of smoke in the air, blow it high for the ones who ain’t here.’
Miley provides the song’s hook alluding to the fact the smoke is not coming from normal cigarettes, but the 20-year-old is careful not to specifically mention marijuana.
‘Now my buzz is gone, and I need to re-up on reality,’ Miley sings in the hook.’Can’t let them see me weak I need to pause on it, Is there any possibility that everyone feels like me?’
Calling for listeners to remember their friends who have died and have a drink in their honor, the former Disney star sings: ‘I lost some, since then, So put ‘em high, and tell ‘em this, You can’t aim, but you never miss.’So raise a glass to the memories and set ‘em free, I’m gonna fill up all those ashtrays, fill up all those ashtrays.’
