Kate Beckinsale, shown here out and about with her family in NY yesterday, is amazed when she sees herself on magazine covers, because her picture has been airbrushed so much she hardly recognises herself.

The Underworld beauty would rather magazine readers could see her in all her unadulterated glory.

She says, “It’s intimidating, even for me, to come upon pictures of myself in magazines.

“The airbrush was a diabolical invention. I’ll look at a photo and say, ‘God, I wish I still looked like that.’ Then I realise, ‘Oh, I never did.’

“I long to see actresses as they really are, with wrinkles and blemishes. Otherwise, it’s just not what we’d call normal.”
