Kourtney Kardashian Announces Second Pregnancy

Posted on: November 30, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Just  hours after Daniel Craig blasted the Kardashian family for bearing children on tv, Kourtney Kardashian announces that she is having baby number two with boyfriend Scott Disick.

In a statement to E! Kardashian said: ‘Scott and I are so excited to announce that we are expecting our second child and are thrilled to be expanding the love in our family.’Now I’m nine weeks along,’ Kardashian tells the magazine. ‘You’re supposed to wait 12 weeks to tell people, but I feel confident.’

I don’t want to jinx homegirl, but everyone knows that you never announce a pregnancy this early. But then again, if the sooner you announce the sooner you get that money.

Kourtney Kardashian Defends Co-Sleeping With Baby Mason

Posted on: June 30, 2010 | Comments Off

Did you know that Kourtney Kardashian got a job writing new mommy articles for People magazine? I know..I thought the same thing. Who the hell wants to read badly written ramblings about raising a kid on a reality tv show. EVERYONE apparently.

Anyway…her writing isn’t bad and after reading Kourtney needlessly defending herself over something that clearly her own decision,  I feel a sort of mommy-kinship a need to defend her need to defend herself.

Kourtney writes about her struggles with baby Mason sleeping through the night and the decision to move him into bed with her. And surprise..now she loves the bonding time she shares with baby Mason at night. Co-sleeping has gotten a bad wrap over the past few decades because of SIDS and I guess sometime-somewhere someone must have rolled-over and smothered a sleeping infant.

But even though we in the U.S. frown on babies and toddlers sleeping in their parents beds…other cultures all over the world embrace it. When did we as a culture decide it was best to throw a newborn baby, used to the cozy womb, into a huge crib in a dark room all by himself?  But my personal mommy-philosophy has always been to do just do what is right for YOU and YOUR KID and let everyone kiss it. So if you want your baby in a crib..put him in a crib. If you want your baby in your bed put him in your bed. The one thing I know for sure as a parent is that there are a million different parenting styles and you should never try to do things you don’t feel in your heart is right just because your other mom friends do it.

You don’t know owe any of us an explanation Kourtney.

When Mason first came home from the hospital, he slept in a bassinet right next to my bed. I remember those early days when he was often up all night and asleep all day. Scott and I would take turns staying up with him, singing to him, rocking him, doing anything and everything to get the little angel to sleep.

I was told that Mason would eventually switch around on his own — so he’d be awake during the day and sleeping at night — which he finally did.

When I was pregnant, a few of my friends told me that their babies slept in bed with them. I remember thinking how crazy that was. Then I started reading up on it and decided it was something I actually wanted to try.

I know that having Mason sleep in my bed might be a controversial topic. But I have to be honest: I just love that time. I especially love how when you sleep with your baby, you breathe together on the same pattern. I’ve been able to bond with Mason so much more. Even if I’ve had a busy day, I always look forward to every night and us spending time together when we sleep.

Mason still sleeps in the bed right now. We take all the pillows off the bed to make it as safe as we can. I try to have him take naps in his crib if we’re home. When we’re on the go, he naps in his car seat and he loves that.

I really have mixed feelings about the whole topic. Some people say co-sleeping for the first two years is good, but now people are telling me the longer he sleeps in the bed with us, the harder it will be to get him to sleep on his own down the line. Of course, ultimately I want what is best for Mason, so I’m really battling with it right now.

Kourtney Kardashian says she was surprised to find out that she was pregnant while on vacation in Florida. She also isn’t telling anyone who the baby daddy is…she is due around Christmas. Most people think it’s her ex-boyfriend. I’m sure he’ll come forward soon to get in on the reality show money that is sure to be coming soon.

She said: “We were in the Everglades and I kept feeling nauseous and sick. I just kept thinking something wasn’t right. I went to the doctor and he confirmed the news. I was just so shocked.”
