Interesting how John Mayer decided not to accompany Katy Perry to last nights MTV VMA’s. He did however, pick her up after the awards show for a dinner and an after party. From the sounds of it, they had a nice romantic dinner but the night ended in an argument after booze was added in the mix. Maybe the Katy-likes-to-party-too-much-stories are true.

It’s hard to believe that any girl could out casual-relationship John Mayer…but it sounds like that’s exactly what’s happening. Girls just wanna have fun.

Wearing her black Elie Saab dress with sequin and leather detailing from the night, the couple were seen sneaking out of Madeo Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills. John looked dapper for the occasion, wearing a more dressy outfit consisting of a black jacket, white T-shirt and grey trousers to complement his girlfriend’s floor-length gown.  Nestled in the back seat of the car, the couple mostly looked ahead and made no contact as they made their way off to another party.

However after their romantic meal things apparently turned sour between the pair when they arrived at The House of Hype Power Players dinner presented by Esquire Magazine at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The couple reportedly entered the hotel together, but strategically had friends walk between them to avoid being photographed together.  They arrived at the bash at 11pm, opting not to join fellow diners. 

Instead, they decided to sit in an adjoining ballroom to wait for the after party to begin. Sitting at a private table with a 10-strong entourage, Katy was said to have ordered a bottle of Jameson whiskey and ginger ale.According to reports, the air between the couple grew incredibly tense throughout the evening and John was seen trying to calm his girlfriend down. A fight between the couple apparently broke out forcing John to allegedly take his new girlfriend outside into a private area.

Did Katy Perry and John Mayer not break up? Is she making a point that they were and are still just friends? Does she want the world the know that she was not the latest victim of John ‘The Playa’ Mayer? For what ever reason, she made a point of posting this picture of herself with The Playa and a group of friends over the weekend.

Katy apparently made a point about the status of her relationship with the singer yesterday – as she partied with John at a music festival in Los Angeles. A picture was posted online of the two together by a Katheryn Hudson, which is Katy’s birth name. The two musicians were spotted looking affectionate at the FYF Fest on Saturday night at Los Angeles State Historic Park.

It looks like Mayer the Playa has struck again. It hasn’t been confirmed that John Mayer is the one that ended the relationship he had going on with Katy Perry, but from the sounds of all the reports I’m ready today it was business as usual for The Playa. Love ‘em and leave ‘em.

At least Katy got lucky and he didn’t Tweet about it or talk to some random TMZ camera man or worse…call her sexual napalm.

After a couple months of casual dating, John Mayer and Katy Perry have split, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.

“She’s really upset about it,” one insider tells Us.

Echoes another insider: “She is making it seem like it wasn’t serious with John, but she is hurt.”

Us Weekly first reported the budding romance, with Perry, 27, and Mayer, 34, making an “affectionate” appearance together at Soho House in West HollywoodJune 19.

At a Beverly Hills pool party Aug. 4, recently divorced Perry and notorious Lothario Mayer “were all over each other, making out,” one observer said.

A pal said earlier this month that the “Teenage Dream” singer was ready to get serious with Mayer. “She doesn’t want to get her heart broken again, but she feels a real connection and wants to see where things go” with Mayer, whose exes include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Perry divorced Russell Brand earlier this year, and briefly dated Florence + the Machine rocker Robert Ackroyd in the spring.

I love the details ‘sources’ give to tabloid when they see celebrities at parties or clubs. I especially love this bit about John Mayer looking down Katy Perry’s bikini top at this Hollywood Hills pool party.

The couple are also seen together in the pool where, according to fellow guests, they put on a very flirty display. Apparently John kept looking down Katy’s bikini top as they shared a series of steamy, passionate kisses.

One guest told Star magazine: ‘There was major chemistry between them… It was like they were on a honeymoon.’ The partygoer went on: ‘John and Katy were all over each other. They were holding hands and kissing the entire time. Even in the pool, they stuck together non-stop.’

After spending a few hours at the pool party, John and Katy left together hand-in-hand, the source added.

Maybe dating a bluesy musician like John Mayer is good a thing for Katy Perry. Is his down-home-ness rubbing on her? Are we watching the beginning of a style-evolution for Katy Perry? God, I hope so. I love Katy but I am so over the candy-landness of it all. Maybe she’ll leave behind the blue hair and hot pants for a more mature-post-Russell Brand thing.

Say it ain’t so! Is Katy Perry entering a style era sans whipped cream-shooting bras and crazy colored hair? Because if her latest beauty ads for ghd are any indication, it seems like it.

For the third time, the singer — who’s been flaunting a more demure style and a simple black hairdo these days — stars in the U.K-based hairstyling brand’s ad campaign. In the first black-and-white image (left), Perry is shown rocking short bangs while sitting at a chess board. In the second shot (center) she swings from a chandelier, while in the last photo (right) she’s standing in front of a vanity and sporting a side ponytail.

The campaign, shot by Ellen von Unwerth, is not only a departure from the star’s signature outrageous persona, but it’s also more tame than her previous ghd shoots, which featured mermaids and vintage looks, among other crazy antics. ”It was fun to go a more natural route after playing characters in my last ghd campaign,” Perry said in a release. “Ellen captured both the playful and chic looks amazingly well.”

Seriously, this is a Katy Perry I can get behind.
