Dennis Quaid’s Newborn Twins HospitalizedPosted on: November 21, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins were hospitalized Tuesday after being accidentally given a massive dose of Heparin, an anti-coagulant given to all newborns. The normal dosage is 10 units and sources report that the Quaid twins were each mistakenly given 10,000 units. The drug is used to flush out IV lines and prevent blood clots. We’re told one overdose was given on Sunday morning, another on Sunday evening. Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace are now in stable condition in the neo-natal intensie care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center after both babies started to “bleed out” Sunday night. TMZ reports that a hospital technician stored the drug in the wrong place and then a nurse grabbed the incorrect dose of medicine without looking. There are thirteen other patients at Cedars that were given the overdose of Heparin as well, but the age and size of the Quaid babies made it life threaten. It appears job integrity at the world famous Cedars is really below par. Two life threatening mistakes by two different employees nearly causing the deaths of two newborns. These are not the type of celebrity stories we like to report.
