This makes me so sad; my reasons are twofold.

1.) ABC is doing yet another lame ‘with the stars’ show but this time on ice skates; and 2.) Vince Neil is going to be on it!

I totally understand why everyone else is doing it…the rest of the cast makes sense. But Vince Freakin’ Neil???? Voice of rebellion from my youth? The lead singer of Motely Freakin’ Crue skating for old ladies on Sunday nights for some cash just makes me cry.

ABC announced the cast of its new competition show Tuesday during “Dancing With the Stars.”

Reality star Bethenny Frankel, Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil, ski champ Jonny Moseley and actors Sean Young, Rebecca Budig and Brandon Mychal Smith will take to the ice when the new show premieres on Nov. 22.

The show will have a similar format to “Dancing,” with stars learning new routines each week and performing them for judges scores and viewer votes.

At the time of this posting Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was sitting in the Clark County, Nevada jail waiting to be bailed out for DUI.

This is not Vince’s first time at the DUI rodeo…you may or may not remember (depending on how old you are) the ugly mess Vince himself in back in 1984.

Vince spent a measly 30 days in jail and was fined $2.5 million for driving drunk in the 1984 car crash, which cost his passenger and good friend, HANOI ROCKS star Razzle his life. That’s  how The Crue rolled back in the 80′s. They were so big even vehicular homicide only cost him 30 days in the slammer. Vince said many times since then it wasn’t enough and he continues to be haunted by his friends death to this day.

He’s never really been the same since and his addiction problems have just gotten worse over the years.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Vince Neil is now all kinds of smarmy. Don’t think I’m just bad mouthing the guy all willy-nillly. If you are a child of the 80′s then the Crue were your hero’s. The boys wanted to be them and the girls wanted to be with them, and we all had matching big hair. These guys were real rock stars in every sense of the word, and now Vince Neil appears to be beat down, bloated and broke.

Not only has Vince appeared on VH1’s The Surreal Life, embarrassed himself with that sad excuse of a band, now his new gig is as the face of Carnival Cruise Line’s “Motley Cruise”, a four day Mexican vacation aboard the ship Imagination. The ship sails January 24, 2008 from Miami, with stops in Key West and Cozumel and will include concerts by Neil and what Carnival says are “several other recognizable bands” that have yet to be announced.

If you are not too heartbroken after seeing your childhood idol fall, rooms are available starting at $480 with suites ranging from $1400-$1700. I think I’ll skip this one kids. I prefer my rock stars to age a little more gracefully.
