Three years after acting a fool and being an a-hole to Matt Lauer, Tom Cruise came back to The Today Show this morning to make amends.  Tom admitted that he was arrogant in his last Today Show interview, and just wants to “be an entertainer”.

He also wants you all to go see his new movie Valkyrie opening on Christmas Day..thus the making nice with Matt.

No story….just wondering what the hell Tom Cruise was thinking with this frizzy new do and which Scientology alien is responsible for putting Katie Holmes in shorts and tights?

Tom Cruise is trying to put a bandage on his failing movie career by being funny. Not couch-jumping-he-is-out-of-his-freakin’-mind funny, but actually comedy. After his cameo in the summer blockbuster Tropic Thunder, it‘s rumored that Tom will next being something a little more family friendly.

Tom Cruise is being considered to voice one of the villains in Shrek Goes Fourth. The sequel is due out in 2010 and this time it’s being directed by Mike Mitchell, who is rumored to be something of a Tom Cruise fan. He also has a history of working with high-profile Scientologists. In 2005 he directed Kelly Preston in Sky High.

Not much is known about Shrek Goes Fourth, other than it’s supposed to explain where Shrek came from and how he got to his beloved swamp. Hopefully Tom’s involvement in this movie is not a Scientology plot to reach our kids early.

It’s a good thing for TomKat that The Beckham’s made the move across the pond to L.A. last year. Katie Holmes goes to Victoria Beckham for fashion advise, and now Tom Cruise goes to David Beckham for diet and fitness advise.

The Daily Mail reports that 46 year-old Tom was worried about a recent weigtht gain and looking like he had a mdidle-age belly tire. He felt like he was starting to look old when photographed with his young family. Katie is only 29, remember. So Beck’s put him on the treadmill and a low-cal diet and now Tom is ten pounds thinner, but still a crazy Scientologist

“David has been round at Tom’s house a lot. While Katie and Victoria have been swapping fashion tips on the phone, David has been advising Tom on diet. Tom has a private gym at his home and David has been working out with him. He also gave him diet advice. Tom has been sticking to 1,200 calories a day, mostly grilled chicken and fish with lots of vegetables, salads and fruit. David put together a work-out regime that included the treadmill, weight training and fencing lessons together.”

Word on the street is that Tom Cruise is going to jump on the remake bandwagon and revise his role as Maverick in a Top Gun sequel. Homeboy needs to do something, he is losing major industry cred, fast. His last big hit was in 2005 with War of the Worlds. His last two films, Mission: Impossible III and Lions for Lambs both failed to make any big movie waves.

I sure miss the pre-Scientology/Jerry McGuire/The Firm/Interview with a Vampire Tom Cruise. He was a force to be reckoned with back in the day. Now he’s just that crazy man that paid Katie Holmes to marry him.

Cruise is in talks with studio bosses to reprise his role as Lt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in a long-awaited follow-up. An insider tells The Sun: ‘The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.’

Tom Cruise’s new attorney makes him look even more insane this week, if that’s possible. The lawyer is comparing Dr. Drew Pinksy’s analysis of Tom’s mental health to Nazi methods.  Dr. Drew, the hunky host of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab, talks about celebrity mental health in next month’s Playboy magazine.

“A lot of people in the public eye who behave strangely have mental illness we can learn from, and much of it is based on childhood trauma, without a doubt. Take a guy like Tom Cruise. Why would somebody be drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology? To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood - maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect.”

Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, told us: “This unqualified television performer who is obviously just looking for notoriety is so grotesquely unprofessional as to pretend to diagnose Tom and others without ever meeting them. He seems to be spewing the absurdity that all Scientologists are mentally ill. The last time we heard garbage like this was from Joseph Goebbels.”

Whatever dude! Have you seen Dr. Drew? He is waaay too hot to be a Nazi. Besides, Tom is the one that looks awful comfy in that German get up.

 Tom Cruise will use any and every excuse to hawk Scientology. And to kiss a little Hollywood booty. Kate Holmes and her midget husband threw a small housewarming party over the weekend to break in their new Beverly Hills crib.  The A-List guest list included some folks he needed to make nice with. And while he had them all there he thought he’d do a little “auditing” in the Suri’s playroom.

 THE guest list to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ weekend housewarming party read like a “people who I need to suck up to” list. One attendee said, “Everyone he’s been having issues with was invited: Sumner Redstone, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, you name it. Then there were all the gays, which was hilarious because Scientology ‘cures’ gays . . . There’s a tenet in Scientology that basically says, ‘After you cut people off, you have to invite them back in.’ Especially if your career’s in trouble, I guess.”
