And here is my PS…who knew Kid Rock had such a sexy belly????? Happy Friday to me.

Good or bad, it’s a part of who we are and we accept that. Most of us don’t fly it on our flag poles but we don’t cringe when we see it like people in other parts of the country do.

I’m not exactly sure why Michigan born and bred Kid Rock feels the need to embrace it, but given his true love of Southern rock-n-roll I suppose one could stretch your mind around him defending it. Having said that, I do not believe Kid Rock is racist ..but these people do.

Bob was supposed to accept the NAACP’s Detroit chapter’s Great Expectations Award at their annual Freedom Fund dinner in May, but some members of the historic black rights organization are so unhappy about it, they’re boycotting the 10,000 person affair.

They are pissed off that uses the flag on stage.

“It’s a slap in the face for anyone who fought for civil rights in this country,” Adolph Mongo, head of Detroiters for Progress and a boycotting NAACP member, “It’s a symbol of hatred and bigotry.”

For his part, Rock defended the use of the flag in a 2008 interview with the Guardian. “Why should someone be able to own any image and say what it is?” he said. “Sure, it’s definitely got some scars, but I’ve never had an issue with it. To me it just represents pride in southern rock’n'roll music, plus it just looks cool.”

He also spoke about touring with a famed rapper and how it impacted his audience.

“I’ve got Rev Run [from Run DMC] on tour with me right now – we have fun trying to count the number of black people every night. We’re like, ‘There’s 14 tonight, yeah!’”

I don’t know if Kid Rock just happened to run into Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in Cabo or if they are really friends who planned to spend the day at the beach together. Either way, Kid’s pale white skin and thinning hair really pops against Cindy and Rande’s tanned bodies and line free botoxed faces.

And where is going with this walk? This is like a Ministry of Funny Walks walk.

Kid Rock told Entertainment Weekly: “I think it’s the stupidest thing he’s ever done in his life. He’s a sacred American institution of rock and roll, and he just threw it all out the window. Just stomped on it and set it on fire. I think whoever’s advising him… we should bring back the guillotine, or whatever they call that thing. And if it was himself, he needs some serious counselling. I love him to death, but I gotta speak the truth.”

Speak it brotha! Although I do seriously doubt taking this job is the stupidest thing Stevie has ever done.

Whatever, my hate for contemporary country music aside, I think it’s cool that Kid Rock will be hosting this year.

“The rumors are true — I’m hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9th,” the singer announced on his Web site Thursday. “All I can promise is I will be awesome.”

He may seem an odd choice to some, but he’s got major old-school country influences running through his music and over the past few years has made Nashville his second home.

He’s close pals with several country artists including Hank Williams Jr. and his daughter Holly Williams, and back in 2005, he even married Pam Anderso0n at a Nashville honky tonk.

He’s had a bit of county radio success as well with his hit “All Summer Long”, which won a CMT Award at last year’s show.

I think it was brilliant move on the award shows part. He’s sure to bring in a much wider audience than last years host, Bill Engvall.

“Well, there’s no sex on the sex tape. For it to get characterized that way, I mean, that kind of sucks,” he said in an interview with Spin magazine.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is he saying he wishes it had gone farther than the now socially acceptable BJ? Or  that we should call it a ‘BJ tape’?

Scott also said that  things got awkward between him and Kid Rock after the tape was leaked. I guess so dude. Isn’t there some sort of rock star code that stipulates ‘what happens on the tour bus, stays on the tour bus’?

“What sucks about that is Bob — Kid Rock — and I were friends,” he told the magazine. “He’d been over to my house and we jammed and hung out. We were in Tampa playing with Metallica, and I walked into his trailer and there were some strippers. It’s a time in his life and a time in my life that we’d like to put behind us and not publicize because we have children now, and they’re in school, and their friends read. I know he was pretty pissed off at me when that came out.”

“We haven’t sat down face-to-face,” Stapp said. “I did apologize to him that I didn’t just burn that thing. I thought that was a skeleton in the closet that would never find the light of day.”

They always say they are going to destroy it, don’t they? The tape finally surfaced in 2006, but Scott successfully blocked it’s released. Kid and Scott are still not on speaking terms.

According to The Globe, the country-rap-rockin’ Kid — who has constantly complained about having a “built-in bimbo attractor chip — began romancing Kellie after the two joined forces for a five-day USO concert rour for U.S. troops in the Middle East and Kosovo last December.

I suppose Kellie could be the nice girl that Kid’s been looking for since his very public break-up with Pamela Anderson. But….other industry insiders think he’s still secretly seeing Sheryl Crow. Either way….both of these choices WAAY better than skanky Pam Anderson.

“Kid Rock is a reflection of great American rock-and-roll music and the American spirit, and we think we can create a beer in that same image. … There is no question in our mind that people will try a beer that Kid Rock will stand by and when they like it, a great and incredibly valuable trademark will be created”

DAH is currently in the process of “interviewing” breweries and working with the Kid to “make sure every aspect of the beer and the marketing support is as exciting as everything else Kid Rock does”. Look for lots of “good ol’ boy” commercials with more girls in Daisy Dukes than you can shake a giant redneck belt buckle at. With a shotgun or deer stand thrown in for good measure. They should be done by next Spring. Just in time for fishin’!

Compared to the above lists, the stuff the celebs wanted at the MTV VMA’s this year wasn’t that bad.

Christina Aguilera: vanilla scented candles, four black bath towels , a space heater and two bottles of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
The Jonas Brothers: Eight sugar free Red Bells, 6 regular Red Bulls and 24 pieces of California sushi rolls
Rihanna: Trish McEvoy blueberry candles, Buffalo wings and roasted jerk chicken
Kid Rock: Chap Stick, white crew socks and low fat raspberry yogurt.

The only thing that shocks me from this list is that Kid Rock eats yogurt.

He tells CMT Insider, “I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, I’m good at writing songs and singing. What I’m not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part.”

Preach it Brother Kid! It would not only be irresponsible on his part to influence his fans; it would be utterly ridiculous and stupid for someone to follow a celebrity to the voting poles.
