After all the months of speculation and secret lunch meetings with ex –cast members, Jessica Simpson lost her bid to play Lucy Ewing in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the 70’s tv drama, Dallas.

According to TMZ, Katie Cassidy, the daughter of 70’s teen hunk, David Cassidy has won the coveted role. Katie also appears in this weeks #1 movie, Click,.As cheesy as it sounds, this is a Hollywood blockbuster. John Travolta will be playing the infamous JR Ewing, with Jennifer Lopez playing his long suffering wife, Sue Ellen. (Whom, by the way, it’s being rumored is the reason that Jess got passed over for the role. Apparantly JLO didn’t want any other diva’s on set.)

I don’t know if any of you are old enough to remember this show, but let me let you in on a little secret, JR gets shot and the shooter is his mistress that he knocked up. This doesn’t sound like any sort of major info now, but let me tell you, the phrase “Who Shot JR?� was a question more important to the American public that eternal questions like “Why are we here?� This show was considered the first prime time drama/soap opera and it had all of our parents sitting home on Friday’s nights to find out what was going on at the Southfork ranch, the dealings in the cutthroat big oil industry and the exploits of that crazy Ewing family.

I think the highlight of this movie for me is not going to be this cute new blond playing the loose Lucy Ewing as much as watching crazy Scientologist Johnny T. get shot!!!! Please tell me they are going to shoot JR, if not, I just can’t be bothered.
