TMZ spoke to a close family member who confirmed that although Casey did suffer mild brain trauma, surgery was no required and he should be just fine.

The family member said Aldridge suffered a “skull fracture around his hairline” and will be kept at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for 2-3 days for observation.

Three other passengers were with Casey at the time of the accident. No word yet if alcohol was involved.

You can only believe about 60% of what NE prints..besides, if this had been true it would’ve been immediately followed by the report that Lynne Spears had jumped off a 30 story building.

About 30 guests were invited – including big sis Britney – to Kentwood for a ladies-only, catered celebration for the 17-year-old at the family’s Serenity mansion. (Spears hadn’t been back to her hometown since her aunt’s funeral early last year.)

“Jamie Lynn opened every gift,” says a source, adding that mom Lynne and fiancé Casey Aldridge’s mother lent a hand. “We all sat in a circle and she opened gifts and thanked every person. It was just a good old fashioned baby shower.”

Jamie Lynn Spears celebrated her 17th birthday with fiancé Casey Aldridge having dinner at Ruby Tuesday and shopping at Wal-Mart, a source says. “They both seemed really happy, both in really good moods,” the source tells PEOPLE of the couple’s outing near Aldridge’s home in Liberty, Miss. “Jamie Lynn had a big smile on her face.”

Spears, 16, has been flashing the rock to friends and family around Louisiana and Mississippi, a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. “She’s got an engagement ring,” the source says. “She’s been showing it off, talking about it.”

The young couple will be bringing in the next generation of Spears-mess this summer. No word yet a wedding date for the kids.  Maybe as soon as Jamie gets her first big girl bra.

Page Six reports that Jamie will be using Petit Tresor to outfit her little one’s nursery as well. Little sis has decided on an ocean theme for her baby’s first bedroom and has already purchased $7,000 of basic furniture. Interesting point; Jamie Lynn bought a round crib just like her big sis had for her two boys. Page Six also says that Jamie seems to be having a great time getting ready for her mini-Spears.

“This is the most fun I’ve had shopping in a long time,” Jamie Lynn said.

Most sisters we know hand-me-down their baby stuff, but given the fact that Jamie Lynn  got knocked-up about 10 years too early…..

Lynne had forbid Jamie Lynn from having her baby daddy sleep over and told her not to go out in public while she was gone and JL did both. It’s seems like a little too late to try to start parenting now when JL is about to be a parent herself, but you have to give Mama credit for at least trying with this one.

“After several weeks of personal soul searching and talks and discussions with her mum Jamie Lynn reluctantly agreed that giving up the baby is the right thing to do. Lynne says Jamie doesn’t understand the life long consequences of having a baby. She still wants her daughter to be able to be a teenager, go to parties, hang out with friends and have a career. So she’ll take the front seat of caring for the baby and take the pressure off her daughter.”

It could be argued that Lynne Spears is the worst parent ever. This decision to let her youngest daughter walk away from her child just goes to support that theory. The Spears women must be cursed with the inability to make good decisions.

Although Jamie Lynn Spears is holding a GED book in these pictures, sources report that Lynn is insisting that her youngest take parenting classes after seeing the mess her eldest made with her two grandchildren. Maybe in Kentwood they make you get your GED to be a parent. If not, they should.

Friends have said that Jamie Lynn was no longer even seeing Casey and that he is only accepting responsibility for the child because he is being majorly paid off by the Spear’s family. The man that insiders suspect of fathering Jamie’s baby would face charges and prison if he came forward. But in the great state of Louisiana Jamie’s ex would escape charges because it’s legal for a 16 year-old to have sex with someone that is two years older than her and Casey falls neatly in that category by 26 days.

Family friends say that with the all craziness and disfunction surrounding Jamie Lynn that she went in search of someone to look up and take care of her and instead ended up being completely taken advantage of by a much older man. So why is Mama Spear’s not coming forward with the identity of the real scumbag that knocked-up her teenage daughter? Because Jamie’s TV career is hanging by a very thin wire right now and one more scandal could ruin her meal ticket for good.
