Much to the dismay of the good people at the Parents Television Council…Howard Stern will be replacing Piers Morgan on America’s Got Talent. The council felt Stern was too raunchy for primetime. And he might be…but his brand of raunchy brings the ratings.

And producers wanted Stern so bad, they’ve even agreed to move ‘AGT’ to NYC — so Howard can continue working on his radio show. Fact is … as we’ve been saying, Stern is a smart dude who knows his audience and when he should push the limits. Bottom line — AGT could become the biggest show on TV.

It’s been a long time since Howard Stern was this controversial. What follows is a pretty ugly…but I gotta tell ya’..I miss this Howard Stern. Howard and his ever-present sidekick Robin were discussing Gabourey Sidibe on his Sirius radio show and not only did they slam Gabby for her size…they had to drag The Oprah down too.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” he said. “She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”

He and co-host Robin Quivers went on to discuss the impossibility of Gabby finding any work in Hollywood after ‘Precious.’

“And Oprah’s lying and saying you’re going to have a brilliant career,” said Robin.

“Oprah’s another liar, a filthy liar,” said Stern. “She’s telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she’s going to have a career.”

FYI Sterny…Gabourey already has a few jobs lined up. She will appear on the new Showtime series ‘The C Word’ and her next big-screen appearance will be opposite Zoe Kravitz in the drama ‘Yelling to the Sky.’

Page Six reports today that American Idol producers are dying to get shock-jock Howard Stern to replace grumpy old Simon Cowell as the shows resident meanie.

An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show say Stern, America’s highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year.

A source connected to “Idol” said, “It’s one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and ‘Idol’ bosses think he’d be even nastier than Simon.

Howard K. Stern turned himself in Thursday night on charges of conspiring to fuel an addict with prescription drugs in the Anna Nicole Smith case. Almost two years after her death Stern and two other doctors are being charged with a total of eight felonies.

According to the L.A. County D.A., the conspiracy counts allege the three defendants conspired to furnish controlled substances to Smith from between July 2004 and January 2007.
