Angelina Jolie and the Best Quotes – 2012 Golden Globes

Posted on: January 16, 2012

I missed the entire 2012 Golden Globes show last night so like any good gossip blogger as soon as my feet hit the floor this morning (and after my BFF Keurig and I had a moment) I started checking out the pictures.

You can see  huge slideshow of the best and worst dressed here, but I had to comment on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They were of course the best dressed couple of the evening. Angelina looks porcelain doll perfect (and oddly like Rose McGowan) and Brad as always is there putting her on the pedestal we wish all our men put us on.

So far my foggy morning research has deduced that Angie killed it and that Ricky Gervais was exactly what we thought he was going to be. But this time the celebrities were prepared with their own jabs.

Here’s a list of the funniest and most memorable quotes from last night:

“Golden Globes are just like the Oscars without all that esteem. The Golden Globes are to the Oscars like Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton, bit louder, bit drunker, bit trashier, and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing’s been proved.” – Host Ricky Gervais, as he opens the show.

___

“I’d like to thank Michael Fassbender for taking over the frontal nude responsibility I had.” – George Clooney, accepting best actor, motion picture drama, for “The Descendants,” referring to the actor who plays a sex addict in “Shameless.”

___

“They write a Matt LeBlanc who, let’s be honest, is way more interesting and fun than the real thing. I wish I was him.” – Matt LeBlanc, accepting best actor/TV comedy-musical, for “Episodes” in which he plays a character named “Matt LeBlanc.”

___

“I was talking to my mother in Jersey before I came out, and she said, “Have fun, but have you seen `Mildred Pierce’? Guy Pearce is so good. He’s going to win.’ So I haven’t seen `Mildred Pierce,’ but I’m sure it’s really good, and I just love our moms because they keep us humble” – Peter Dinklage, on accepting best supporting actor, TV miniseries, drama, for “Games of Thrones,” referring to Pearce, one of his competitors for the award.

“I first won this award when I was 15 for `My So-Called Life,’ and I was utterly stunned and overwhelmed as one is. And the first thing I did when I left the stage was burst into tears because I realized that I had forgotten to thank my parents. I brought my mom with me tonight, Carla.” – Clare Danes, on accepting best actress in TV series, drama.

___

“I would like to thank two studios that really proved the adage that Peter and I could make the telephone book if we wanted to.” – Steven Spielberg, who won best animated feature for “The Adventures of Tin Tin,” referring to his producing partner Peter Jackson.

___

“I’m just trembling here. Oh my God, I’m going to fall off these high heeled shoes.” – Octavia Spencer, accepting best supporting actress/motion picture, who played a maid in “The Help.”

___

“Why don’t you make a film our daughter can see for once?’” – Martin Scorsese, accepting best director for “Hugo,” referring to how his wife, Helen, urged him to make a children’s movie.

___

“I’m currently trying to conceal a massive erection.” – Seth Rogen, standing next to co-presenter Kate Beckinsale.

___

“Oh boy, he’s so much fun.” – Johnny Depp, referring to show host Ricky Gervais who took digs at Depp’s box-office dud “The Tourist,” and referred to “recreational drug use” by Depp.

___

“The only thing worse than not hearing your name as a nominee is hearing it from the host.” – Gerard Butler, as he presents first award of night, referring to host Ricky Gervais’ sharp digs at various stars.

___

“If I’m still a virgin, Ricky, why don’t you come over here and do something about it. I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years … on TV.” – Madonna, as she presents best foreign language film after being introduced by Ricky Gervais, who referred to her hit song title “Just Like a Virgin” with a loud cough.

___

“I thank HBO for being absent when we needed you to be and for being present when we needed a little bit more shooting time.” – Kate Winslett, winning best actress/TV miniseries for the lead role in “Mildred Pierce,” aired on HBO.

___

“Right now, if I were to write a song, it would be a tap dance number.” – composer Ludovic Bource, as he accepts the award for best original score for “The Artist.”

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Visit Barack Obama

Posted on: January 12, 2012

This is how you visit the White House when you are the A-list power  couple. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got the VIP treatment yesterday at the White House …check out those A security badges….you gotta have one of those to get into the oval office.

Yep…they just went to hang out with the president in the oval office. No big deal. Just another Wednesday in Brangelina-ville.

The power couple were snapped inside by photographers waiting outside for the President to take off for a trip to Chicago.

The White House confirmed Pitt and Jolie were in town to screen Jolie’s movie about Bosnian war crimes at the Holocaust museum. They dropped by so the President could talk with Jolie about her work on preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women.

n 2009 the President met with Pitt to discuss his working rebuilding New Orleans’ 9th Ward after Hurricane Katrina.

Today’s pictures of Brad and Angelina come just a day after the first pictures of the infamous 2009 Alice in Wonderland Halloween partaty at the White House emerged – with guests including Jolie’s co-star from The Tourist, Johnny Depp, and director Tim Burton

The Obamas have been highly criticised for hosting the lavish Halloween party at the same time that the country was in the midst of a recession.

And here’s that controversial picture…

Brad Pitt – Touch Of Evil Shoot For The New York Times

Posted on: December 8, 2011

Brad Pitt with Kramer hair? Not so hot. Still, these pictures and video are interesting. I love when magazines do things like this. It’s always interesting to see someone else’s insight into a classic character or star that we all know.

Brad said he was channelling ‘Peter Lorre – with a dose of Kramer.’

While he does bear a resemblance to the popular Seinfeld character, he was in fact featuring as the character Eraserhead in David Lynch’s cult classic 1977 film. And surely his legion of fans will be locked in discussion about who he looks more like – the Jerry Seinfeld’s screwball neighbour or disturbed character Henry Spencer

Brad also stars in a brief video for the magazine shoot, in which the camera slowly zooms in on Brad, who then turns towards his head to face it and starts gurning.

Brad is not the only celeb that got involved in the magazine’s homage to classic evil film characters. George Clooney, Ryan Goslin and Kirsten Dunst, Rooney Mara, Gary Oldman, Michael Shannon, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Kirsten Dunst, Glenn Close, Mia Wasikowska, Adepero Oduye and Jean Dujardin all got their evil on too.

Video:Brad Pitt Gives Suicidal Actor Pep Talk

Posted on: December 2, 2011

It’s dark and really too hard to see, but here’s the video of Brad Pitt being super handsome and caring (not to mention dreamy) at a press conference.  For some reason a down and out actor decided to tell Brad that he was suicidal at a Q&A after a Moneyball screening.

Look, man, life is up and down, it’s a vicious cycle, but you have to go through it and deal with that. You can be down, but then you come back up again, and every failure can lead to success.”

After the Q&A, Brad found the man in the audience and gave him more words of encouragement. The source added, ”Brad handled the situation really well in front of several hundred people — it was a difficult moment that shocked everyone.”
