We hate to admit that this story totally slipped past us. We pride ourselves on being up to the minute on celebrity sleaze, but we dropped the ball on this one. Since we missed it, we assume some of you did too so let’s all catch up together, shall we? Star magazine says the blogosphere was all abuzz on June 5th that High School Musical Star Ashley Tisdale had been diagnosed with the HIV virus. That’s big news in itself but the story went on to say that Ashley contracted the virus when she had her nose job last year and that she only had six months to live!!!

Her rep soon shot down the story — telling Star it was “completely false” — but the damage was done and Ashley and her family are devastated. “My daughter is healthy and just fine — but my husband and I just don’t know why anyone would spread such a rumor,” Ashley’s mom, Lisa Tisdale, 52, told Star at the family home in Toluca Lake, Calif. “And what really upsets me is that anyone can write anything, and it ends up on the Internet. It’s so irresponsible; so many people will just assume it’s a fact.”

We aren’t sure why this hoax was so devastating to the Tisdale family, unless they are super WASP-y. That would explain it. (Please don’t be offended if you too are super WASP-y. Some of our best friends are SuperWASPs. We love WASPs. You always make the best martinis. But be honest, you guys hate this kind of stuff.) To be honest, she should be happy that her name was out there at all. If it weren’t for plastic surgery last November most of us over the age of 13 would have no idea who she is.

Ashley Tisdale has recovered from her surgery to correct her ‘deviated septum’ and revealed her new look last Friday at the Z100 Jingle Ball concert to benefit Autism Speaks at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Ashley’s doc says he is “ecstatic with the results.” Ashley on the other hand says it was an awful experience and she never wants to have surgery again.

“I don’t believe in plastic surgery. I really think natural is more beautiful. This was not about changing me. I am comfortable with myself.”
