I freakin’ love this story. For two reasons.

A) I have mad love for Alec Baldwin despite his past assholery; and B) I too have tasted the sweet addiction of Word with Friends.

Alec must still be new to the game. You know, in those first heady days of plays Words you let nothing or no one get in the way of besting your smart ass friends who think they know everything. In fact he is so in to it, he refused to stop playing on an airplane and got kicked off.

Don’t judge. Addiction is addiction.

Alec Baldwin says he was kicked off a plane Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport after having words with a flight attendant over an “addicting” word game he was playing on his cellphone.

The “30 Rock” actor was asked to get off a New York City-bound flight for playing “Words with Friends” while the plane idled at a gate Tuesday, said Baldwin’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik.

“He loves ‘Words with Friends’ so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it,” said Hiltzik, who added that Baldwin boarded another American Airlines flight to New York.

Baldwin, a prolific Twitter user, took to the social media site to vent, saying a “flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing Words With Friends while we sat at the gate, not moving.”

I can’t believe I haven’t seen these New Era ads until today. Two of my favorite funny men, Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski, talk some major smack in these new ads for baseball cap maker New Era.

Great way to take advantage of the age-old Boston Red Sox – New York Yankees rivalry.

But the second one is hilarious…..

I have really developed a huge appreciate for Alec Baldwin over the past few years. Say what you will about him, he is a fantastic performer, an elegant speaker and when he preaches the truth at you he is usually dead on. Political or otherwise. Case in point..his open letter to Charlie Sheen.

You can’t win. Really. You can’t. When executives at studios and networks move up to the highest ranks, they are given a book. The book is called How to Handle Actors. And one principle held dear in that book is that no actor is greater than the show itself when the show is a hit. And, in that regard, they are often right. Add to that the fact that the actor who is torturing their diseased egos is a drug-addled, porn star-squiring, near-Joycean Internet ranter, and they really want you to go.

Granted, it didn’t get real until you insulted them. And your suit may have real grounds.

But you know what you should do? Take a nap. Get a shower. Call Chuck. Go on Letterman and make an apology. Write a huge check to the B’Nai Brith. And then beg for your job back. Your fans demand it. You will never win because when you are as big a douchebag as some of these guys are, they have no choice but to snuff you. (Do you secretly want to get snuffed? So you can go back and make movies?)

Sober up, Charlie. And get back on TV, if it’s not too late. This is America. You want to really piss off Chuck and Warner Brothers and CBS? Beg for America’s forgiveness. They will give it to you. And then go back. You are a great television star. And you’ve got the gig. As I learned from closely observing Tony Bennett so I could impersonate him on SNL, this is supposed to be fun.

P.S…. buy Cryer a really nice car.

This story rings odd to me. Alex Baldwin was rushed to the hospital yesterday after his daughter Ireland called 911 from their Manhattan apartment.

The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person wasn’t authorized to speak publicly. The official said Baldwin and his young daughter had argued and she told 911 he had threatened to take pills.

Baldwin’s publicist issued a statement calling it “a misunderstanding on one person’s part.” The statement said Baldwin was “quickly released,” is “completely fine and will be at work” on Thursday.

It is always some kind of drama when this kid in involved. Alec is fine, he was released an hour after arriving to the hospital. Maybe daddy was just drunk and passed out and needed to sleep it off.
