Maybe “fired” is a harsh word. It’s more like MTV is just not going to renew her contract when it expired early in 2010. This is surprising to me because Alexa the is the most interesting personality that MTV has employed in years. I mean, really..since the Carson Daly days can you name one single MTV host?

MTV has confirmed that “It’s On With Alexa Chung” will not be returning after its second-season finale Dec. 17. This news comes after the network hired a new senior vp of special programming and production. He has decided that a revamped program featuring interviews, musical guests and pop-culture news will premiere in January.

Apparently Alexa just wasn’t bringing in the numbers. The network even cut the original hour long show down to half an hour and gave a prime talk show 3:30 pm timeslot and the viewer still weren’t there.

MTV programming prexy Tony DiSanto told Daily Variety the cabler is “100% committed” to a studio-based, live pop-culture show with music and interviews, but indicated that the network is still searching for the right formula. (Read : Right on air personality)

“The difference between these (and scripted shows) is you have to develop these on the air,” said DiSanto, adding that “we make the changes until we settle on the show that’s what we want.”

I wasn’t a big fan of Gerard Butler before I watched him on Saturday Night Live last week. Mostly because he has made zero movies that I wanted to see…but he was so freakin’ funny on SNL that now I finally get it. And I get it even more after watching him flirt with Alexa Chung. His hotness is effortless. Alexa asked him a series of personal questions, including if he’d had a threesome in past year and his answer probably won’t shock  you.

Midway through the conversation, Gerard said: “You’ve got amazing eyes.”

Telling Alexa he did not notice how beautiful her eyes were the first time they met, at the VMA Awards, Alexa quipped: “No – you were just going on about my legs.”

Gerard sheepishly then asked: “Did I mention your legs?”

Alexa initially said no, but then admitted: “Well, yes.”

When told there is a Facebook group called ‘Gerard Butler can impregnate through looks alone’, Gerard told Alexa: “I’m knocking you up – I think I’ve just knocked you up, actually.”

The duo then played a quiz where instead of saying ‘yes’ he had to say, ‘The Butler did it’. Asked if he had “had a threesome in the past year” he snapped: “The Butler did it.” He then grinned widely as the studio audience went wild.

He joked: “The Butler pretty much always does it.”
