Britney Spears “Opens” VMA’s; Wins Her First VMA AwardPosted On: September 8, 2008 Leave a Comment
MTV tricked us all kids. Instead of opening the 2008 MTV VMA’s with a new and improved Britney Spears singing and dancing her way back into our hearts, she merely took center stage, clutched the microphone tight, and announced, “I’m here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday. This is the 25th Video Music Awards – and it starts right now.” It was all a total tease. How disappointing, but a clever way for the evil genius that runs MTV to get us all to watch the very British – and very un-funny Russell Brand. I gotta say MTV…you suck this year. Boring, not funny….not cool, edgy or glam. Snooze-fest. Well, at least Britney looked sober and put together. One does have to wonder if her very first ever VMA for “Piece of Me” was fixed or set up. I really can’t believe she beat out Rihanna and Nominated for 16 Moonmen in the past, the pop star nabbed best female video for her song “Piece of Me.” A grateful Spears gave a brief speech, thanking God for “just blessing me like this,” calling out her two sons and dedicating the award to her fans. “This is for you,” Spears said.
