Italian-American actress Alyssa Milano is not a ‘guidette’. . I still cannot believe these kids want to be called guidos and guidettes.

Alyssa told Us Weekly that she finally saw the trailer this week and is definitely not on board. “My husband actually showed me the trailer on YouTube last night, and I got upset. It upset me. I was like, ‘Turn that off!’ So no, I don’t think I’ll be watching that!’”

I don’t see what the big fuss is about. The kids on this show are obviously intelligent, well-educated 20-somethings with promising futures. As evidenced by the articulate interview Jersey Shore star Nicole — a.k.a. “Snookie” — gave on the Wendy Williams show this week. I especially love how she is so knowledgeable about the group that is trying to get her show taken off the air.

“The Italian, whatever, national, whatever their organization is, they don’t understand that ‘guidos’ and ‘guidettes’ are good-looking people that, you know, like to make a scene and be center of attention and just take care of themselves,” she said on The Wendy Williams Show Friday (check your local listings). “They are old-fashioned. They don’t know that; they think it’s offensive, because maybe in their time it was offensive, but now it’s kind of a compliment. So they don’t understand that and that is what we are trying to say. They are way overreacting to the show. We’re 22 to 29 just having fun at the shore. They are just taking it way out of proportion.”

I’m normally a ‘live and let live’ kinda gal so I think if these kids wanna close themselves off and play ‘old school-Italian-trash’ in their little part of the world – then more power to them. I just hope they don’t venture over the Jersey state line with that hair and those clothes. It might break their little greasy hearts to realize they are now a cultural laughing stock.
