Finally! Finally! Finally! The great and mighty Versace family manage to get the very sick Allegra Versace into treatment for her eating disorder. Allegra’s mother Donatella, sister to the late Gianni, released a statement confirming Allegra’s illness.

“Our daughter, Allegra, has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease, for many years. She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well. As parents, we are doing our best to protect our daughter. However, due to numerous media reports, we want to let everyone know that we appreciate their concern for Allegra, and we ask that her privacy be respected at this time,” the statement reads.

I think this is the most solid piece of proof to date that the fashion industry causes serious self image problems in young women. Allegra had to be model thin, didn’t she? A Versace that can’t rock the clothes would most likely be cast out.
